Savion Medaleion
Director, Communications, Schusterman Family Philanthropies - Israel
Savion was born and raised in Haifa, Israel. She studied at Leo Baeck high school, the only Israeli school affiliated with the Reform Movement, where she started on her path into the world of the Israeli and Jewish Identity. After completing her army service as an I.D.F intelligence officer, Savion was motivated by the desire to take part in enterprises promoting Jewish peoplehood and volunteered for a year as an emissary of the Jewish Agency in New Orleans. Back in Israel, she held a series of positions in the public arena, first in the press and later as an advisor on political, strategic, and media-related issues for various public figures, such as MK Shelly Yacimovich (most notably thru the 2013 general elections campaign) and Minister Yoav Gallant. She was the spokesperson for the Israeli mission to the UN in New York, headed by Ambassador Ron Prosor, and later served as an advisor to Eli Groner, the director general of the Prime Minister`s office, where she focused on economic and social portfolios. Today, Savion is the chief of staff for Sam Grundwerg, the chairman of Keren Hayesod. She holds a B.A. in history and communications from the Hebrew University of Jerusalem and an M.A. in American- Jewish studies from the University of Haifa (as part of the Ruderman Program).
