Folarin is a Program Officer on the Education Grantmaking team. In this position, he focuses on researching, collecting and analyzing data to help manage the Education team’s AI investments and strategy. Folarin also leads AI capacity building efforts for Schusterman grantees.
Folarin's career in education began at Martin Luther King Elementary School in the Congress Heights neighborhood of Washington, D.C., where he spent four years teaching 1st, 2nd and 3rd grades. While at King Elementary School, Folarin successfully advocated for a new writing curriculum to improve student outcomes, led social and emotional learning efforts to improve student behavior, and mentored students outside the classroom.
Folarin graduated from the University of Alabama with a Bachelor of Science degree and earned a Master’s degree in education policy from Georgetown University. Folarin is passionate about creating equitable outcomes for Black and Latino communities through policy, knowledge building and access to capital.
