Nancy Fishman is the Senior Director of Criminal Justice Grantmaking for the Charles and Lynn Schusterman Family Philanthropies. The portfolio focuses on building safe and healthy communities by ending mass incarceration and mass criminalization, addressing the harm it has caused, and building new pathways to justice and safety.

Before coming to Schusterman, Nancy served as a Project Director in the Center on Sentencing and Corrections at the Vera Institute, where she directed a national initiative on ending the misuse of local jails, as well as other projects to promote systemwide, data-driven policy and practice reform of state and local criminal justice systems. Prior to coming to Vera, Nancy oversaw juvenile justice and youth development programs at the Center for Court Innovation, and before that directed the Criminal Justice Mental Health Consensus Project at the Council of State Governments Justice Center. Other work has included six years at the New Jersey Institute of Social Justice developing and managing a broad portfolio of work around reentry from prison, and a Skadden Fellowship at the Legal Aid Society of New York.

Nancy holds B.A. and J.D. degrees from Yale University and an M.A. in Human Development and Social Policy from Northwestern University.
