In helping young American Jews build a meaningful connection to Israel, educators and communal leaders are rethinking what Israel education can and should be. Traditional models that center advocacy or ideology often fall short, leaving little room for open dialogue, difficult questions or diverse perspectives.

In this article for eJewish Philanthropy, Schusterman Co-President Lisa Eisen partners with experts, educators and leaders in Jewish life to outline a new approach. Their recommendations include creating opportunities for educators to have firsthand experiences in Israel, fostering open conversations about ongoing conflict and complexities, and creating learning environments grounded in curiosity and respect.

At a time when many young Jews are searching for connection and clarity, this shift in educational practice is both urgent and necessary—and has the power to build a stronger, more connected and resilient Jewish future.
